Sanibel Bike Paths

Sanibel's bike paths cover 25 miles and offer one of the best ways to tour the island. In fact, they take you almost anywhere you want to go. They lead to shops, points of interest, restaurants, wild life centers and of course the beaches. Many island resorts and hotels have bicycles for their guests to use. In addition, there are public bike rental facilities on both Sanibel and Captiva where not only can you rent bikes but also helmets and kiddy trailers.

Follow these easy rules of the road for maximum enjoyment:
  • Use designated bike paths where available.
  • If you ride on the roadway Stay single file on the far right side of the road and ride with the traffic. Observe traffic laws and signs and don't forget to use hand signals.
  • Bikes are not allowed on the beach.
  • Florida law requires that bike riders under 16 wear helmets.
